As Seen On TV

I’ve been wanting to write this post for a while but thanks to an extremely busy schedule full of 16 hour days, I’ve been putting it off.  A few weeks ago though I made a purchase that has since renewed my desire to share my thoughts with you on some of the products that we see being sold on television.  When people see an infomercial, a lot of times they think that the product being sold is too good to be true.  Thankfully, we have this little thing called the internet where you can actually research a product and find out if it’s a steaming pile or if it’s actually worth spending money on.

Happy Thanksgiving

I just wanted to take a minute from my dinner preparations to wish everybody a very happy Thanksgiving.  May your day be full of moist turkey, flavorful stuffing, warm rolls, decadent pies, and a thankful heart.

Thanksgiving Dinner Preperations

I love Thanksgiving dinner.  A few years ago, I started doing the cooking and now I seem to do it every year.  I don’t especially like spending three days cooking for a meal that lasts maybe thirty minutes tops but I love having leftovers for the week and a half after Thanksgiving Day.

I’ve used a few recipes over the years but for the last three or four, I’ve stuck with the same basic menu because it’s got something for everybody and everything for me.  Our feast consists of the following:

  • sausage stuffed mushrooms
  • deviled eggs
  • French-cut green beans with almonds and fried onions
  • ranch mashed potatoes with bacon
  • baked sweet potatoes stuffed with marshmallow and pecan strudel
  • savory mushroom stuffing
  • regular stuffing
  • potato crescent rolls
  • German chocolate pie
  • pecan pie
  • pumpkin pie

The Best Day Ever

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! For the Zohner family, it was very busy. For me, the busyness actually started a few days ago as I started planning what I would be cooking for everyone. My mom and her husband, Terry, came to visit from Denver and I didn’t want to let them down by preparing a horrible meal.

I’ve heard that the average person eats around 10,000 calories on Thanksgiving day. Considering the fact that I was adding heavy whipping cream to stuffing, I can believe it. We had so much food. I think that it was quite possibly the largest meal that I have every prepared. In the end, I planned a great meal that turned out very nice. Thankfully Holly and Chelsea were there to help me when multiple things needed to be done at the same time. I couldn’t have pulled it off without them. The best part about it though is all of the leftovers that are in the fridges. Yes, that’s plural. Our fridge in the kitchen is packed full as is the “spare” fridge that we keep in our garage. I love Thanksgiving leftovers.
