Well, summer has unofficially ended which means that it’s time once again to go back to school. Emma and Alex are both going to the charter school near our home this year which is new for them. Because it’s a charter school, they get to wear uniforms. Surprisingly, this hasn’t really caused any issues. Neither one of them seems to mind looking like everybody else. I expected Emma to make a stink about not being able to wear what she wants but it’s been OK so far. I think the fact that everyone has to wear a uniform makes it a bit easier for her to accept.
When we first received word that Emma had been accepted into the school and would be transferring from Buffalo Point Elementary, Holly and I were excited. Emma, not so much. In fact, she complained every time it was brought up. She was convinced that her new school would be horrible and that she’d have no friends. I’m happy to say that she appears to have changed her tune. She loved her first day and even made some new friends!

As a kid, I always dreaded this time of year; summer is almost over and that means that it’s time to go back to school. As I grew older, I actually started looking forward to going back to school but I realized that knowledge is power. How could I expect to rule the world if I didn’t have power? Logic would dictate that I must acquire knowledge.
My plans for world domination have since faded and now I’m once again dreading the start of school. Now though it’s not because I want to play baseball and Nintendo all day long with my friends, even though that wold be fun, it’s because I’m just tired of school. I used to joke that I’m on the 10 year plan to get my degree. I’ve been working on it for 9 years now so I guess I switched over to the 20 year plan at some point. If I just had the time to go full-time, I’d be done in a little over a year but with work and family, I have to limit myself. I’ll get there eventually though.

Since Holly finished up her first year of nursing school on Wednesday, she thought that it would be fun to go on a little vacation during her week and a half break. You see, she starts her RN year next week and wanted to do more than just sit at home doing nothing during her time off. I agreed with her and so the planning began.
Since neither of us had ever been to Zions National Park or Bryce Canyon National Park, we decided that we should take a road trip through Utah and enjoy some of the beautiful scenery that this state has to offer. We booked our hotels and I told my boss I was leaving for a few days, then we loaded up the van and started driving.
