The last time that Holly went to the grocery store, she brought home a big tub of pistachios. Within minutes, the tub was open and all five of us were cracking open the shells to get to the salty nut inside.
I learned a few different things from this experience. First, my family loves to eat pistachios. Second, Hannah likes to suck the salt off, chew up the nuts until her cheeks are full, choke a bit, then spit everything out. Kind of like what she does with apples. And finally, I have learned that when trying to open a pistachio shell that only has a small slit in it, as opposed to being “split wide open”, lots of frustration ensues. Those shells are hard!
