They Did It Again

Well, CBS has gone and done it again. They canceled Jericho. The show that made history by being brought back from cancellation, only to be given a crappy time slot and an even crappier lead-in just couldn’t produce the numbers that CBS found acceptable to justify a third season.

I have to admit that I’m not really surprised. The writing was on the wall even before the first episode of the second season aired. CBS was basically doing this to get fans to stop sending tons and tons of nuts to their mailroom. They knew that we were angry about the show ending on a cliffhanger so they decided to placate us with seven more episodes to tie everything up all nice and pretty like. I have to say though that those seven episodes were amazing. They were quite literally some of the best television that I have ever seen. (That’s saying a lot.)

The Triumphant Return

Just a quick reminder that Jericho makes its triumphant return the the airwaves tonight on CBS at 9:00 Mountain time. There are seven episodes scheduled so if you’re tired of watching shows that start with “Who wants to be a…” or any of those other “reality” shows thanks to the writers strike, be sure to tune in. Watch it even if you love reality shows because it’s one of the best shows EVER. I’ve watched a lot of TV in my life so I should know.

What To Write?

I’ve been wanting to post a new blog for a bit but haven’t really had the chance. Work has been very busy and I haven’t been getting on the computer when I get home at night. As I was driving home tonight from work, I was thinking about what I would write about. I really had no idea.

On the radio, they were discussing how Brittney Spears’ little sister is pregnant. (Way to go Brittney’s mom! I love how you’ve let your kids go to crap.) I could post about that but the jokes come too easily and I would probably get mean. My general dislike for celebrity and the fascination that America has with it would make for a funny but not very nice blog.

The Other Show That Got Killed

I often wonder what television executives are thinking when they make programming decisions. I look at some of the shows that actually receive a time slot in a networks lineup and stand amazed. There’s so much crap out there and it seems like so many good shows don’t even get a fair chance.

I’ve already chronicled the tales of Jericho in this blog. For those unfamiliar with that situation, basically CBS killed Jericho after the first season. After receiving 25 tons of peanuts in protest from fans, they realized that they made a huge mistake and agreed to bring it back. It’s funny though because even though CBS says that they’ll do what it takes to make the show successful, they’re also sending a lot of mixed messages to the fans. It’ll be interesting to see how it all shakes out and if the Jericho Rangers get a third season.

It’s Back

Tonight is the night that Jericho makes its triumphant return to the airwaves. After receiving 25 tons of nuts, CBS executives finally gave the fans what they wanted and will be airing seven new episodes, most likely in the fall as a replacement for a failed reality show.

Even though tonight’s episode is not new, it is very important that people tune in. If you haven’t seen the show before, now is the perfect time to become addicted. The first episode will air tonight. Next week a recap episode will air then the following week, the episodes that aired after the near fatal hiatus will be shown. This is an attempt to get fans who left the show caught up with what’s going on. It is also so new fans can tune in and see why this was the fastest un-cancellation in television history.

Victory Is Ours

As I promised in an earlier post, once there was news regarding Jericho, I would post it here. Well, there’s news and if you can’t guess by the title of this post, it’s coming back. CBS has agreed to renew the show next season for a seven episode run. That’s not a lot but it’s a beginning. Once they see that fans love this show, like they haven’t already, they’ll renew it for a full season.

This has been one of the largest protests regarding a canceled television show. In the end, more than 25 tons of nuts were received by CBS offices in both L.A. and New York. Combined with the countless phone calls, emails, postcards, letters, and faxes, they really had no choice but to listen to the fans and bring Jericho back for a second season

Bear Attack

I have noticed that a lot of people have been checking out the blog. It seems that Jericho is a popular topic for most of our recent visitors. I have contemplated posting another update on the fight to save this great show but there’s not much to report. Things are moving along and hopefully the show will return. You can bet when it’s announced, I’ll post it here.

Anyways, on to what we’re here for: bear attacks. I was surfing the net a few nights ago and came across some very good information on YouTube of what to do if you’re ever attacked by a bear. Since we’re going camping in a couple of weeks, this could come in handy. Plus, it’s from Dwight K. Schrute (from The Office for those who don’t know who he is) so you know that it’s accurate.

Jericho Update

Holly thinks that I’m nuts. (No pun intended on that one.) She doesn’t understand why a group of television viewers, myself included, would fight so hard to keep a TV show on the air. For me, Jericho being taken off of the air is more than just a TV show that got canceled. It’s about making a stand and telling television networks that I’m tired of the crap that they put out. Nearly every time I get involved with a show, especially serial dramas, they get canceled and replaced with complete garbage. I’m sick of it.

I know that a few days ago when I posted my thoughts on the cancellation of Jericho, the hits on the site went higher than they ever have so obviously somebody is interested in this. Much to Holly’s chagrin, I’ve decided to post an update for those who haven’t been following the events of this rebellion against CBS.

Jericho Canceled

Yesterday CBS announced its fall lineup. One of my favorite television shows, Jericho, was not on that list. Normally when a television show gets canceled, it’s not a big deal to me. I just don’t care in most cases since the show is either total crap or has already jumped the shark. Jericho is different. It is not a good show and never has been. It is an amazing show. From episode one, I thought that this was one of the best written, most intriguing television shows that I have ever seen.
