Some of you may have noticed some changes to our gallery page. I’ve recently started using the NextGEN Gallery plugin for WordPress. I like it much better than Coppermine which is what I was using before. When combined with the WP lightbox 2 plugin, it makes a very nice gallery.
At Holly’s request, I’ve also re-enabled the password protection on the page. It’s not 100% secure since I currently have a random preview image showing in the sidebar, but it should help keep unwanted visitors from lingering a bit too long.
To go along with this new gallery format, I’ve added pictures from Halloween and Nick and Chelsea’s wedding. I’ve also added a pic of me feeding a mouse to an owl and some random images of the kids. If you would like to check them out, and don’t remember the page password, please feel free to use the contact page to let us know that you want to see things. Or, you can just give us a call and we can tell you. Whatever is easier for you.

So Halloween this year was pretty good. We started our festivities early in the week with some pumpkin carving. We had five huge pumpkins but a lack of time so only three of them ended up getting carved. Holly decided that it would be fun to do Shrek and I unleashed my inner geek (what’s new?) and did Mario of Super Mario Bros. fame. Emma decided to do an original creation which turned out pretty good. Like every other year, there were lots of dads commenting on how cool our pumpkins were as their kids took our candy.
This year will be known in my mind as the year of the recycled costume idea. Emma decided that she wanted to be a devil, Alex wanted to be a tiger, and Hannah wanted to be a clown. Whether it is dumb luck or just coincidence, we have each of these costumes in the appropriate sizes in our costume box. Everybody was happy and we saved money. You can’t ask for more than that – especially if said costumes yield free candy.

Holly is out with the kids, roaming the neighborhood, asking strangers for candy. I’m on door duty. I’m sick of running up and down the stairs and it’s only 7:00! I anticipate that I’ll have more content to post in a few hours but, in case I don’t get to it tonight, I wanted to wish everybody a happy Halloween.
Remember, if you decided to play a Halloween prank on somebody and try and scare them so bad that they we themselves, be careful. You might get punched in the face.

I know that we’re still a few days from Halloween, but with the presidential election and trick or treating in the air, I thought that it would be fun to post this comic that I stumbled upon. The thing that makes it so funny is the fact that it’s true.

If you’re lucky, Comrade Obama will only take half of your candy. He’ll be sure to get the half that has the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups though.

If you were to walk into any store these days, you would probably think that the next holiday to be celebrated was Christmas. Contrary to retailer belief though, we actually have two holidays, including one pretty major one, between now and Christmas.
In just a few short weeks, we will celebrate the end of the harvest by stuffing our faces. This holiday is know as Hallowe’en or, if you’re not into traditional spellings, Halloween. Ironically, we will not be partaking of the fruits of said harvest but will be gorging ourselves on sugary confections originating in Hershey, Pennsylvania and McLean, Virginia (home of M&M’s).
On Saturday, our ward held their annual trunk or treat. This is a safe environment where neighborhood kids can run around a parking lot and get candy from people sitting in and around their vehicles. Normally, I try to encourage my kids to not take candy from people that are sitting in their car but for this, I made an exception. We have about 4.3 million kids living within our ward boundaries so, as you can probably imagine, there were a lot of kids running around in costumes.

I know. You’re thinking to yourself that it’s about time that I posted some new pictures. Posting pics takes time though. I have to resize them and make it so that I don’t use up all of the free space on my server. I really dislike the time that it takes to do this so consider yourself lucky…
There are only a dozen or so, but that’s a dozen or so new pictures for you to look at. You can find them in the gallery under “Halloween 2007″ and “Holly and Jeremiah”. Due to some issues with accessing the gallery, I have removed the password so for now, anybody can see it.

I’ve never done live blogging but I figure that now will be a good time to start. Technically it won’t be “live” since I’m not posting updates as they happen but I am writing as things are happening. So it’s kind of like a live blog recorded from an earlier performance like American Idol.
Right now, I’m at home watching television while blogging and running up and down the stairs to give candy to small people dressed like pirates, goblins, and who knows what else. Holly is with the kids going door to door, pillaging candy to bring home and reward me with. Why should I be rewarded you ask? Because I’ve run up and down the stairs at least 2.5 billion times. See, that’s what happens when you live in a neighborhood that has 8.2 trillion children in it like we do.
