When we found out that I would be getting laid off from Centercode, Holly was actually somewhat excited because it meant that I would have time to get things done around the house. In addition to finishing organizing the garage and shed, Holly had plans for painting and organizing Alex’s bedroom and getting all of the baby stuff set up in there.
I decided to start with the garage since it had been on my list of stuff to do for the longest amount of time. I knew that it was in bad shape but I had no idea that it would take me a week to get looking how I envisioned. I started by moving everything in the garage that belonged in the shed out. This meant that in addition to organizing the garage, I had to also organize the mostly empty shed. This wasn’t too big of a deal but it did take some time.

I’ve posted enough about death on this site over the past few months. There’s no need for me to post more about the subject now. It is tax time though and, as the saying goes, “something something death and taxes”.
Holly and I will usually get a good tax return. I found out earlier this week that this year will be no different. We had originally planned on taking the kids to Disneyland and buying a 52″ LCD television for the basement. Given the current economic situation, we have decided to be a bit more responsible and pay bills. We’re also going to buy some food storage and a few other “responsible” items but it’s not going to be all fun and games like we had originally planned. I’m a bit bummed that I’m going to have to wait for my new TV but I’ll deal with it. I’d much rather be able to defend myself with a full tummy during the inevitable robot uprising than watch 24 in high-definition. (If I keep telling myself that, I might eventually believe it.)
