Yesterday Holly and I were chatting about our plans for the evening. At the time, there was nothing scheduled so I assumed we’d be working on one of our various projects. A few minutes later, my boss came into the office asking who wanted four tickets to the Ogden Raptors game. Since we didn’t have anything planned, I jumped at the chance to take the family to the ballpark.
We decided that since it was such sort notice that I would go home and get the family and then we would get dinner at the game. I’m normally not a big fan of hot dogs but I love eating one when I’m watching a baseball game in person. There is just something about ballpark dogs with mustard and relish that I love. Unfortunately Holly tainted mine with a few drops of ketchup but I was able to wipe it off with minimal damage to the rest of the hot dog. Holly and the Hannah had nachos, Alex and Emma had pretzels, and everyone shared some popcorn. It was basically Jenny Craig’s worst nightmare realized but it was ballpark food and we were at the ballpark so it was OK.

The Fourth of July is always a big deal in the Zohner household, and to be honest, why wouldn’t it be? After all, I come from a long line of rednecks (my grandma used to have a TV that worked on top of her TV that didn’t). The Fourth of July is the perfect redneck holiday! Not only do we get to celebrate the birth of our nation but we get to blow stuff up and cook meat on fire. Who could ask for more?

Friday night marked the beginning of the Zohner family camping season. It also happened to be the annual Fathers and Sons camp out.
Unlike last year, I was able to escape the office early enough to get everything ready to go at a decent time. Unfortunately, Holly didn’t get off work until 5:30 so Alex and I had to work with Holly’s schedule to ensure that the girls weren’t left alone until she got home. In an effort to save some time, we met with Holly on our way to Morgan where we said our goodbyes and dropped of Hannah and Emma. Holly was on her way back from Ogden so it worked out really well and saved us quite a bit of time.

Emma just turned nine years old. Because her birthday fell on Monday, she ended up getting a weekend-long celebration.
On Saturday, since I was going to go to the LDS General Conference Priesthood Session with Nick, we had him and Chelsea come over for dinner and cake and ice cream. We also decided to open presents that night. Emma got a lot of Littlest Pet Shop toys as well as High School Musical 3 on DVD. I think that she was pretty happy with the gifts that she received.
