Last week I had the pleasure of taking the kids to the dentist. This was a first for me since Holly usually takes them but we were able to get through things without any problems.
Emma and Hannah both had no cavities but the dentist found a “small one” on one of Alex’s teeth. I figured that we’d have to bring him back but the dentist just took him into a back room, had him open his mouth, and proceeded to drill out the cavity. The entire process took about three minutes. They didn’t even numb Alex’s mouth! I couldn’t believe what I had seen. Alex was in no pain and he was once again cavity free.

On Monday afternoon I had one of my regularly scheduled three month cleaning appointments with my dentist. I apparently have super acidic saliva so I have to go in more often than normal people. It would be cool if my spit was so acidic that it was considered a super power. I would be a super villain and take over the world. (I’d have to be a villain because what super hero has super spit?) But I digress.
So I’m at the dentist and they tell me that I have a couple of teeth that need worked on. I’m not happy about it but what can I do? Then they tell me that they recommended a procedure be done to prevent problems in the future on these same teeth about a year ago but since my insurance wouldn’t cover it, I had to go without. Oh, and by the way, that same procedure should be done on three more of my teeth but the insurance company still doesn’t cover it. They pay three times the amount to fix them though. What’s up with that?
