As many of you now know, we had a baby a few months ago. Yeah, I know that I’m late but better late than never, right? While I actually Tweeted our time at the hospital, I know that many of our readers don’t follow me on Twitter. Consequently, they may not be familiar with the events surrounding Lincoln’s birth.
Because I have a serious lack of time, and because I’ve also typed this all out once, here is a Twitteriffic time line of Lincoln’s birth:
At hospital. It looks like there may be a new Zohner tonight. 10:36 PM Dec 21st, 2009
Waiting for the doctor to come and let us know if Holly gets to stay and have baby or if we have to try again another day. 11:48 PM Dec 21st, 2009
Contractions are 3-4 minutes apart. I hope they don’t send us home. 11:49 PM Dec 21st, 2009
Remember a while back when I posted that awesome video of the Muppets covering Queen’s Bohemian Rhaposody? Well, here is another one. I’ll admit that it’s not as good, but it is holiday themed and since we’re only a few days away from Christmas, it seems appropriate to share with you.
Those who have known me for a while know that I love Elvis Presley’s music. I’m not sure where this love comes from, but it started manifesting itself during my teens. Anyways, since it’s Christmas time, I’ve been enjoying some Elvis Christmas music. This morning I came across this little nugget on Yahoo! Music.
Needless to say, I was confused and then amazed. I thought to myself that the woman singing with Elvis looks and sounds like Martina McBride but she wasn’t part of the ‘68 Comeback Special. Then it dawned on me: TECHNOLOGY!
I immediately started searching for the origin of this Martina McBride/Elvis Presley duet and found out that there was a CD released last year of nothing but Elvis Christmas duets! And better yet, they’re duets with artists that I actually like! I know that he was never big on duets so this is just awesome for me to see. I’m going to have to procure myself a copy as soon as possible.
Ever since Christmas, there has been a lot of playing games on our new Wii. The kids can’t seem to get enough which makes me pretty happy. (I’m glad that they are enjoying their present.)
For those who are unfamiliar with how the Wii controllers work, they are basically motion sensitive remote controls. For all of those who used to play Super Mario Bros. on the original NES and were mocked for all of the controller movement that you felt was necessary to make Mario jump, the Wii is for you. I’ll often forget about the motion sensitivity when playing Mario Kart with the kids and end up getting off to a slow start but that’s besides the point.
I was talking with a friend at church the other day and he likened the Christmas season to a car accident. Despite how much preparation goes into getting ready for everything, it still manages to sneak up and leave everyone wondering what it was that just hit. Given how the past month has gone, I felt that this was a very appropriate analogy. Now that things have started to settle down, I decided that I finally better sit down and try and recap our activities over the past few weeks.
I love the old Christmas specials that the TV networks air through the month of December. My favorite has to be Charlie Brown though. In this era of political correctness, it offends a lot of people, and I’m sure that it will eventually be banned, but it conveys why we celebrate Christmas better than almost anything that I can think of that’s not considered “religious”.
I love Christmas music. One of my favorite songs isn’t one that many people know about so I thought that it would be fun to post a live version of it here. For the record, Holly HATES this song.
Those of you who know me know that I’m a huge fan of Black Friday. I go out every year, usually with Holly, and spend lots of money on Christmas gifts. Usually, I end up buying way more than I intend and then feel guilt at having spent so much money. But I’m a sucker for a sale so I eventually justify my guilt away using the logic that saved a ton of money. I try not to think about the fact that I would never have spent the money in the first place if I hadn’t come across the sale price. In the end, I go way overboard on presents and the living room looks like a Toys R Us on Christmas morning.
