Help For The Unemployed

Since I know a few people who are currently looking for work, I thought that I would post this short video that is sure to help everyone in their job interviews.  If you question just how well it can help you, I have just two words for you: it’s Batman.  Are you saying that Batman cannot help you?  Because if you are, that’s just sad and you’re very, very wrong.

On an unrelated note, I know that our poor blog has been somewhat neglected for the past few weeks.  I’m seriously hoping to change that.  Since school has started up again though, I’m experiencing a serious time crunch.  The fact that I actually work at work isn’t helping either.  (I hate it when work gets in the way of my blogging.)  I have a few changes in store that will be explained when they happen so please keep coming back, or better yet, add us to your RSS feed so you can know when they happen.

Hannah’s New Room

I’ve been extremely conflicted today about what I should post.  Should I post the so awesome it’s beyond awesome video for The Ballad of G.I. Joe or should I do something more family related since this, as the website name would imply, a family blog.  After much deliberation, I’ve decided to tell everyone about Hannah’s new bedroom.  For those who really wanted to know what the Joes do after hours, visit my other site, Stolen Droids, to check out the coolest thing you’ll see today.

Last week we were at Home Depot returning a few things that didn’t get used in our various summer projects.  While we were there, Holly decided that she wanted to check out paint samples because we’ve been talking about painting the inside of the house.  Because Hannah’s new bunk bed has been taking up space in the garage, we determined that her room would be the first to get a makeover.  After checking out a few samples, it was decided that Hannah would get pink and purple walls with a Disney Princesses wallpaper border.  She was so excited that she couldn’t hardly wait for it to be done.  (When I say she, I could be referring to either Holly or Hannah.  I’m not sure who was more excited.)

A New Blog

For those who are interested, Holly has gone rogue and decided to start a blog of her own detailing all of the fun things that we are doing in the yard.  Actually, they’re fun for her but when they’re all finished, my back screams lots of bad words at me for participating but I take great pride in a job well done so it’s worth it.

You can check out her blog here.  For those of you who are interested in what she has to say but clicking that mouse one more time is just too much to ask, don’t worry, I’ll try and steal her posts from this new rogue blog and post them here.

Let’s Be Social

This is a post that I’ve been wanting to write for quite a while but have not been sufficiently motivated to do so.  Now I have a video clip to accompany my words so I’m glad that I waited.  Videos make everything so much better.

Everyone is familiar with MySpace.  I don’t like it.  With all of the half naked ugly chicks, angsty pre-teens, and frat boys, it’s bad enough.  When you add poorly designed pages that should come with seizure warnings into the mix, it becomes completly unbearable.  However, millions of users would probably disagree with me.  For years, it was the leader in social networking sites but that doesn’t change the fact that it makes my eyes want to bleed.

About a year ago, my sister Chelsea, started bugging me and Holly about setting up profiles on Facebook.  After Holly finally capitulated, I decided that I better give in as well.  (I feel shame over caving to peer pressure.)

Year-End Wrap Up

I was talking with a friend at church the other day and he likened the Christmas season to a car accident.  Despite how much preparation goes into getting ready for everything, it still manages to sneak up and leave everyone wondering what it was that just hit.  Given how the past month has gone, I felt that this was a very appropriate analogy.  Now that things have started to settle down, I decided that I finally better sit down and try and recap our activities over the past few weeks.

Geek Speak

You may have noticed that I have a new link under our ‘Favorite Blogs’ on the right side of the page. It’s for Stolen Droids, a joint venture between me and some of my former geek coworkers. Basically, it’s where we can talk hardcore geek stuff without offending our wives. I’m pretty sure that Holly doesn’t care about The Endor Holocaust so I put my thoughts on it over there.

If you are interested in seeing what geeks talk about, go check it out.

Battling Illness

I’m a huge fan of Airborne. They are Alka-Seltzer like tablets that you drop into water and then drink the resulting cloudy, bubbly water that results. They are great for when you feel like you are getting sick. We go through a lot of them in our house.

I wasn’t going to post anything else today but came across this blog by Dilbert author, Scott Adams. In it, he recounts his experience chewing what I assume to be an Airborne tablet. He apparently was only able to down about half of it before it beat him. That’s weak.

My first experience with Airborne was also waterless. I chewed it and, to my great surprise, started foaming purple foam from my mouth. My tongue also felt extremely tingly for about an hour but I ate the whole thing without complaint or death. It was rather cool actually and made me quite popular at work for the five minutes that I was foaming.

A New Look

I’ve been wanting more interactivity with the website. I’ve decided to use WordPress so now you can post responses to our various blog entries. You can also click on one of the RSS links on the left to add this blog to your favorite RSS readers. That way, you’ll know when we update without having to check the site daily.

I’ve sacrificed a few things, most notably the gallery, for now but I hope to have it back up soon. Plus, I can edit this from anywhere so hopefully I’ll be able to find the time to post more frequently.
