Clean And Organized

When we found out that I would be getting laid off from Centercode, Holly was actually somewhat excited because it meant that I would have time to get things done around the house.  In addition to finishing organizing the garage and shed, Holly had plans for painting and organizing Alex’s bedroom and getting all of the baby stuff set up in there.

I decided to start with the garage since it had been on my list of stuff to do for the longest amount of time.  I knew that it was in bad shape but I had no idea that it would take me a week to get looking how I envisioned.  I started by moving everything in the garage that belonged in the shed out.  This meant that in addition to organizing the garage, I had to also organize the mostly empty shed.  This wasn’t too big of a deal but it did take some time.

Hannah’s New Room

I’ve been extremely conflicted today about what I should post.  Should I post the so awesome it’s beyond awesome video for The Ballad of G.I. Joe or should I do something more family related since this, as the website name would imply, a family blog.  After much deliberation, I’ve decided to tell everyone about Hannah’s new bedroom.  For those who really wanted to know what the Joes do after hours, visit my other site, Stolen Droids, to check out the coolest thing you’ll see today.

Last week we were at Home Depot returning a few things that didn’t get used in our various summer projects.  While we were there, Holly decided that she wanted to check out paint samples because we’ve been talking about painting the inside of the house.  Because Hannah’s new bunk bed has been taking up space in the garage, we determined that her room would be the first to get a makeover.  After checking out a few samples, it was decided that Hannah would get pink and purple walls with a Disney Princesses wallpaper border.  She was so excited that she couldn’t hardly wait for it to be done.  (When I say she, I could be referring to either Holly or Hannah.  I’m not sure who was more excited.)

A Tale Of Two Rooms

For the past few years, Alex and Emma were sharing a room.  We thought that putting Alex in with Emma was the best option since, at the time, both he and Hannah had a hard time going to sleep at bedtime.  There was way too much playing and jumping on beds and it just wasn’t worth the nightly battles.

The problem with the sharing of the room though is that both kids were very messy.  It was rare that the carpet could be seen thanks to all of the toys, laundry, etc. on the floor.  Despite our repeated attempts to get the kids to keep their room clean, it was always a mess.  Even when the floor was clean, it was still a mess thanks to a lot of clutter on the shelves.  Holly and I both hated it but figured that once Emma moved downstairs things would probably get better since things wouldn’t be so crowded.
