Fathers and Sons

Last night was the annual fathers and sons campout for our ward. When I learned about it a week ago, I decided that it would be a good opportunity for me to spend some time with just Alex.  I figured that he would enjoy camping with just me.  It turns out that I was right.  We had a great time.

Because I got off of work a few hours later than I had planned, we got a late start.  Combine the late start with rush hour traffic through a construction zone and, by the time we got to Morgan, it was after 7:00.  There was no way that I was going to set up camp and make dinner before it got dark so we stopped at Subway and got some sandwiches.  As we sat at a table eating our dinner, Alex seemed pretty pleased with the fact that it was just the two of us.  That is, until he got mad at me for forgetting to ask for pickles on his sandwich.  Lucky for me though, he got over it pretty quickly.  I think that it had something to do with the bar-b-que chips that I got for him.

Time To Catch Up

Yeah, I know that I should have posted this maybe on Saturday.  Or on Sunday or Monday but I have been too busy dealing with other aspects of the site to write anything.

I wanted to let everybody know about our weekend.  It was very eventful.  On Friday night Emma had her eighth birthday party.  While we were able to pull it off without any major problems, Pizza Hut did their best to ruin the night for Emma and her friends.  I’m a good dad though so I was able to thwart their efforts.

My Weekend at Womens Conference

I left for Provo on Wednesday. I drove down with my neighbor Rebecca. We stopped in Salt Lake at a store called NPS but she calls Market Square. It is a huge warehouse that has a grocery section, a furniture section, a clothing section of things that are pulled from stores because they have been late on shipments or they have dented packaging on the sell by date is coming up. The prices are ridiculously low. I also brought my coupons and several things were free because of the coupon. We bought more than enough food for us to eat down at Women’s Conference and I only spent $11 and that included three lipsticks that I bought. It was fun to see how much money we could save.

Last Sunday

I gave a talk last Sunday. They asked me to speak in church on the topic of Family Home Evening. Jeremiah didn’t have to speak, just me. In our ward, they don’t have couples speak because most of the families in our ward have one or more kids and so they just ask individuals to speak so the spouse can sit with the children. That is what Jeremiah did while I gave my talk. It went pretty well. I was actually pretty excited to give it because I was able to give an introduction and let everyone in our new ward learn a little about us. I am going to the ward choir and my neighbor also told me about a community choir that the city does and that is on Saturday mornings. I went to that practice this morning and I really enjoyed it. I am going with those same neighbors to women’s conference down at BYU and participating in the choir for that. I am very excited to go.
