I decided to start this blog as a means of learning more about blogging. I’ve had it on a few different domains and eventually ended up here. I also wanted a way that I could keep friends and family updated on what’s going on in the lives of myself, my wife, and our kids. Since I strongly dislike speaking on the telephone, a digital medium works best for meeting this objective.
I pay the bills by managing beta tests for a company called Centercode. I basically interact with clients and help to make sure that the products that they are hoping to successfully release to the market are actually ready to be released. I work with testers, compile data, and write reports which is a far cry from what I’ve historically done but I love my job and I love being able to play with technology.
As I was taking all sorts of “unnecessary” business classes at Weber State University while I was in the process of earning a degree in IT, I wondered when I would ever need to know how to write professional memos or reports. After all, I was just an IT guy who fixed computers and didn’t aspire to much more than that. I liked what I did and I was good at it. I never in my wildest dreams imagined that I would be a project manager. It just goes to show you that fate has an awesome sense of humor. It’s a good thing that I paid attention in school.
If you have any suggestions about how I can improve the content on this site, drop me a line. I’ll see what I can do.
