Unemployment has kept me busy. So far I’ve cleaned out the garage, installed cabinets in said garage, organized the shed, and painted Alex’s bedroom. Of course, Holly helped when she could so it’s not like I was working alone but it was still a lot of work.
One of my biggest pet peeves with our garage is the number of bikes that it stores. I think that Emma has two, Alex had two, and Hannah has one. Plus there is a tricycle, a big wheel, a Little Tikes car, and two scooters that enjoy taking up space. It frustrates me to no end to see bikes, scooters, etc. spread all over the floor waiting to trip me.
You may have noticed that I mentioned that Alex had two bikes. As I was cleaning out the garage, Holly and I decided that the one he likes to ride is too girly and the one that’s not girly is too small. We agreed that they should both go to the DI and that Alex would have the opportunity to earn a new bike. At first he wasn’t too sure about losing both of his bikes, but then he realized that he was going to get a new bike so everything was good.
As an act of good faith on Holly’s part, she took Alex to pick out a new bike the day after getting rid of the old bikes. She also discussed what would be required of him before we would go and actually buy the bike that he wanted. Within a few days, Alex had fulfilled his end of the bargain and became the proud owner of a brand new bike.
Alex loves his new bike. He was so excited to ride it that the next day he woke up at the crack of dawn to go for a ride. Since then, every free moment that he has had, he has wanted to spend it on his bike. I’m glad that he’s enjoying it so much.
