I am so excited right now that I could almost pee. I’m sure that you’re probably wondering what could cause such excitement in a grown man that he would wet himself. The answer to that question is Billy Joel, row 1.
I have been a Billy Joel fan for as long as I can remember so whenever he comes to town, I get all giddy at the thought of going to see him in concert. Unfortunately, my hopes are always destroyed by a schedule conflict. That’s what happened last year when he came; Holly had a clinical for school that she couldn’t get out of so she promised that the next time he was in Salt Lake we would go. Well, the next time happens to be November 20th.

In addition to the yard work last weekend, I also managed to stain the deck. It is no wonder that Hannah ended up with a haircut from Alex on Saturday. Jeremiah and I were outside all day on Friday and Saturday. You can see pictures of Alex’s handiwork here.
Also, my seedlings are coming up quite nicely. Now if only the weather can warm up again and stay that way so that I can plant them.

Last Friday and Saturday we worked in the yard. We rented a sod cutter and relocated the sod from the backyard to the side of the house and made a strawberry patch. We also boxed in the garden area and brought in a whole truckload of mulch for the garden and flower beds. I am so excited for my garden now. I will be planting my lettuce, carrots and peas soon.

For all of those carrot cake lovers out there, I have posted Holly’s carrot cake recipe for your enjoyment on our Recipes page. It’s the best carrot cake that I’ve ever eaten so I suggest you give it a try.

Jeremiah and I worked out in the yard on Saturday cutting up sod and getting the garden ready. Alex and Hannah got tired of playing outside so they went inside and decided to play “barber”. Alex didn’t want his haircut but Hannah did. She said that she wanted her hair to look like her Aunt Chelsea’s. So Hannah came outside modeling her new hairdo. She was quite excited that Alex had cut her hair.

Jeremiah was not happy about that at all. Meanwhile Chelsea got to our house and was returning Emma from her sleepover and offered to take Hannah to Nick’s sister’s house so that her hair could be fixed. This is the after picture.

I guess her hair could look worse. Jeremiah is not happy about it and I am just relieved that it is just hair. It will grow back.

- Shasta Daisies which will also go along my back fence
- Carrots in my garden
- Sunflowers which will grow in the corner of my yard
- Peas,Watermelon, Sweet Corn, Zucchini and Tomatoes all in my garden.

I will post a picture when they start to sprout. Somewhere between March 25th and April 1st.

We have some plans for our backyard. We are going to rent a sod cutter and make a garden area. You can see the area that we have outlined in black spray paint.
Then we are also going to put in a patio at the end of the deck stairs. I am growing flowers from seed that I plan to put in along the back fence. We are also going to build a shed that will go under the deck. I am so excited for all of the plans for our yard. I will post more pictures as our work progresses.

For those who are interested, Holly has gone rogue and decided to start a blog of her own detailing all of the fun things that we are doing in the yard. Actually, they’re fun for her but when they’re all finished, my back screams lots of bad words at me for participating but I take great pride in a job well done so it’s worth it.
You can check out her blog here. For those of you who are interested in what she has to say but clicking that mouse one more time is just too much to ask, don’t worry, I’ll try and steal her posts from this new rogue blog and post them here.

Today was Dads and Donuts at Emma’s school. Unlike in the past when I forgot, I remembered it this time. We showed up to her school and were both amazed at how many dads were in attendance. We actually had to park nearly a block away because there were so many cars in the parking lot and lining the streets. It’s nice to see so many fathers take an interest in their kids and take time out of their day for things like this.
After standing in line for a few minutes, we were served glazed donuts and chocolate milk. There was a time when this is what I would eat for breakfast almost every day. No more though. I just can’t handle this type of food so early in the morning. Heck, I can barely handle it in the afternoon now. I guess that’s what trying to eat healthy and losing a bunch of weight will do to a guy. But I digress…

A few months back, you may remember me posting a poll asking what you were doing with your investments. At the time, I was planning on trying to ride out the current financial storm thinking that I’m young enough to recover my losses in the coming years. I’m not quite as optimistic now as I was then. Actually, I wasn’t very optimistic then but I was trying to convince myself that I was. Right now I think that we’ve actually already entered another depression. I also think that the pundits are either too dishonest or too stupid to share this fact with the rest of the world for fear of what problems it may cause. In my opinion though, they’re just postponing the inevitable which will ultimately make things worse.
