A Solution For The Comic Addicted

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve enjoyed comic books.  In between the times that I’d get to find out what happened in the newest issue of  GI Joe,  Batman, or Superman, I’d supplement my love for comics by reading the Sunday comics.  I would even choose which newspaper to get based solely on which comics they printed.

Now that I’m older and have children of my own, I still enjoy reading the Sunday comics.  I’m also proud to say that Emma has found the joy that a few well written panels can bring.  When Holly goes through the paper on Sundays, she has started setting the comics aside for Emma to read.  I really enjoy seeing Emma read comics.  I’ve taught her well.

I may be old but I still enjoy reading comics.  I even still kill the time between my runs to the comic book store by reading comics printed in the newspaper.  This is the 21st century though so I actually rarely pick up a newspaper to get my fix.  The comics that I enjoy reading are all on the internet now so I don’t need to decide which paper to get based on what comics I like to read.  I can read Fox Trot, Dilbert, and any other number of comics that I so choose from the comfort of my computer which I usually do while eating breakfast.

One of the beautiful things about the internet is that anybody with a website and an idea can create comics for a mass audience.  Over the past few years, I’ve become a big fan of a lot of different web comics.  Some of my favorite new discoveries are Dave Kellet’s Sheldon and Robert Chandler’s I’m Not Bob (both found via Twitter).  I’m also a big fan of Mordant Orange by Mike Bannon.  Of course, there are a lot more that I read on a regular basis but my point is that there are some very good comics available on the internet.

If you enjoy reading comics and haven’t discovered web comics yet, then you should start looking into them.  With so much diversity, there’s bound to be something that will keep you entertained.
