Merry Christmas!

If you’re a Christian, Merry Christmas. If you’re a Jew, Happy Hanukkah. If you’re an atheist, good luck with that.

More Muppet Goodness

Remember a while back when I posted that awesome video of the Muppets covering Queen’s Bohemian Rhaposody? Well, here is another one.  I’ll admit that it’s not as good, but it is holiday themed and since we’re only a few days away from Christmas, it seems appropriate to share with you.

As Seen On TV

I’ve been wanting to write this post for a while but thanks to an extremely busy schedule full of 16 hour days, I’ve been putting it off.  A few weeks ago though I made a purchase that has since renewed my desire to share my thoughts with you on some of the products that we see being sold on television.  When people see an infomercial, a lot of times they think that the product being sold is too good to be true.  Thankfully, we have this little thing called the internet where you can actually research a product and find out if it’s a steaming pile or if it’s actually worth spending money on.

How Was I Unaware Of This?

Those who have known me for a while know that I love Elvis Presley’s music.  I’m not sure where this love comes from, but it started manifesting itself during my teens.  Anyways, since it’s Christmas time, I’ve been enjoying some Elvis Christmas music.  This morning I came across this little nugget on Yahoo! Music.

Needless to say, I was confused and then amazed. I thought to myself that the woman singing with Elvis looks and sounds like Martina McBride but she wasn’t part of the ’68 Comeback Special.  Then it dawned on me: TECHNOLOGY!

I immediately started searching for the origin of this Martina McBride/Elvis Presley duet and found out that there was a CD released last year of nothing but Elvis Christmas duets!  And better yet, they’re duets with artists that I actually like!  I know that he was never big on duets so this is just awesome for me to see.  I’m going to have to procure myself a copy as soon as possible.

Best. Cover. Ever.

This is the best thing I’ve seen on YouTube in a long time.  I guarantee that it is the best thing you’ll probably see today.

A Dog Like This You Have To Feed Everyday

Last week it looked as though we were going to have to put Oscar to sleep.  He was in a lot of obvious pain and not acting like himself.  This typically wouldn’t be justification for having a beloved pet put down but it wasn’t the first time that this has happened.  Holly took him to the vet and we discovered that he had tweaked his back really badly.  The vet gave him a shot of what I can only imagine was liquid awesome and a few prescriptions: a pain killer and a muscle relaxer.  Since then, Oscar has been doing much better and has returned to his old, lovable self.  We were very grateful that our vet knew what to do to get him feeling well again.

Avoiding Swine Flu

Well, the whole family is finally recovered from the swine flu.  When all was said and done, it had run rampant through our home for nigh on two weeks leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.  In addition to taking down Alex and Emma, both Hannah and Holly got hit pretty hard too.  Thankfully everything is now back to normal and everyone survived.

I was fortunate in that I managed to avoid becoming ill.  I’ve since been exposed to the swine flu virus again at work (allegedly) and still feel fine.  Either my immune system is freaking amazing or I’m doing something right because I’ve had multiple encounters with swine flu and come out on top every single time.  Since I seem to be so lucky, I thought I’d share what has worked for me so that it can hopefully help you, my faithful reader, stay healthy.

For The Husbands

I only have a moment but I wanted to post this very funny video.  It is a song comprised of things to not say to your wife.  If you have ever said any of these, I’d love to hear about it.

Oink

I hate being sick.  Fortunately for me, I’m not.  Yet.  I stress the word yet because it’s bound to happen.

Over the weekend, Alex started feeling ill.  It started with a cough on Saturday afternoon.  By Saturday night, he was so tired that he fell asleep while watching Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.  Him falling asleep while watching movies isn’t unusual but it was still pretty early in the evening.

Yesterday he woke up with a horrible cough and no voice.  Combine this with a fever of 104 and we knew he was a sick little boy.  We did what we could to cool him down and make him comfortable but he was one sick kid.  When bedtime rolled around, Holly decided that he probably needed to be looked at by a doctor so she took him to the after-hours clinic.  They tested him and confirmed what we had suspected: swine flu was upon us.  The doctor wrote out a prescription for TAMIFLU which will allegedly help shorten the duration that the microscopic pigs are running rampant
