After what seems like a million years, we finally get to vote for the people that will take it upon themselves to destroy our country. I’m sure that they don’t think that their policies will destroy our country – they’re doing what’s in their best interests, I mean the country’s best interests.
I plan on voting on my way into work. I’m actually still conflicted on whom I will be casting my ballot for. I don’t like what’s been going on with our government over the past few years so I’m reluctant to vote for any incumbents. I’ll probably end up voting for multiple third-party candidates but I know that doing so is just throwing my vote away. At least I can say though that I didn’t vote for “that guy”. I do know though that I’m not voting for Obama for president. I don’t like McCain but I dislike Obama even more.
I’m curious as to whether or not history will see today as the day that America finally broke. There have been lots of problems leading up to this day but today is the day that people will decide what direction our country should go in. Do we follow in Europe’s socialistic footsteps and have a stagnant economy, high taxes, and high unemployment or do we do what America does best and try and pick ourselves up from the mistakes of the past few years and correct our course? If we follow Europe, we’ll have 50% income taxes and 20% sales taxes but at least we’ll have government funded health insurance. Yay? (People don’t trust the government to handle important letters through the mail. Why would they trust them with their organs?)
I suppose that time will tell but whichever party comes out on top, I think that we’re in for a very unpleasant ride that I wish could be avoided. Unfortunately though, I no longer have enough confidence in our political process to trust that a course correction is in store. I think that greed and corruption have seeped too deeply into our political candidates, and those who aren’t corrupt won’t run for office. I think both of the major parties are taking us to bad places, the only difference between them is how quickly they’ll get us there.
If by some miracle John McCain manages to win, I think we’ll be seeing widespread unrest. I fully expect riots, accusations of voter fraud, and four more years of liberals whining how the Republicans stole the election again. If Obama wins though, I wonder how many of these same liberals will be complaining about Obama and his ties to Acorn and their fraudulent ways.
No matter who ends up winning today, I’m betting that it’s only a matter of time before we end up in a Mad Max style economy. I can’t wait to see Al Franken and Orrin Hatch battling it out in the Thunderdome.

I did not vote for McCain or Obama. I also did not vote for any national incumbent.I still fear for our country. If the left or the right wins the election, we the people still loose.
Carl, I took your mindset with all of the incumbents. In the end, I ended up voting for candidates from the Constitution and Libertarian parties. I did not vote for “Super Dell” though.
