Curse You Will Wright
I’ve always been a big fan of games created by Will Wright. For those who are unfamiliar with who he is, he’s the mastermind behind games like SimCity and The Sims. If you have ever played one of those games, then you know how addictive they can be. You also know that they are so engrossing that it’s possible to sit down with the intent to play for twenty minutes and get up fourteen hours later wondering where the time went. It’s almost like time travel.
Will Wright’s most recent game is called Spore. It is a combination of every other one of his sim games and then some. You basically start off as a cell, eating either small plants or meat chunks. Eventually you grow and evolve into a space faring civilization. The fun part about it is that you get to choose how your creature evolves. Will it have multiple eyes and spit poison? Maybe it will be aggressive and eat other creatures?
My soon to be brother-in-law, Nick bought the game the day that it was released. He was kind enough to let me borrow it over the weekend. I installed the game on Sunday but it wasn’t until last night that I actually sat down to play.
Within minutes of starting the cell stage of the game, I had all three kids watching and telling me how to evolve my creature. I knew that I should be downstairs painting but we were having so much fun that I couldn’t seem to pull myself away from the computer. Before I knew it, more than an hour had passed. If the kids had their way, we’d probably still be playing but sleep, school, and work reared their ugly heads and needed to be satisfied.
In case you’re wondering, I was still able to get quite a bit of painting done. The fact that our carpet is going to be installed next week has given me a strong sense of urgency. I’m going to have to try and avoid Spore for at least the next week.

I must say that I got hooked on Spore from day 1, I’ve been losing a lot of sleep for sure but we must make sacrafices.
I save time with cheats cheats cheats! Or I’m supposed to save time, I still play way too much…
