Be All That You Can Be

I recently earned my Associate’s degree from Weber State University.  Since I’m on the twenty year plan, I anticipate that I’ll have that Bachelor’s degree by the year 2018.  That’s beside the point though.  Fourteen years ago (has it really been that long?) when I graduated from high school, I received calls daily from recruiters trying to get me to aim high and be all that I can be which is obviously one of the few, the proud, you know the rest… Back then, I received so many calls from recruiters trying to get me to enlist that I felt it bordered on harassment.  Now that I’m a new graduate all over again, the calls are once again coming, and yes, they are starting to border on harassment.

I have all the respect in the world for the men and women of our armed forces.  They do what a very small percentage of our population is willing or able to do and for that they should be commended.  However, I have no business joining our armed forces.  I’m old, fat, and broke down.  While I’m relatively healthy, they don’t want me.  They just don’t know that they don’t want me.  I’ve tried telling them this but the recruiters don’t believe me so I thought I’d bring this before our tens of readers.  Do any of you have suggestions as to how I can get the military to stop trying to recruit me?  Please share your suggestions in the comment section.

Tell them you have flat feet or something. That may work.

I’ve heard of that working. I wonder if it’s true or not. Guess I’ll have to try it.
