Time To Catch Up

Yeah, I know that I should have posted this maybe on Saturday.  Or on Sunday or Monday but I have been too busy dealing with other aspects of the site to write anything.

I wanted to let everybody know about our weekend.  It was very eventful.  On Friday night Emma had her eighth birthday party.  While we were able to pull it off without any major problems, Pizza Hut did their best to ruin the night for Emma and her friends.  I’m a good dad though so I was able to thwart their efforts.

Holly knew that there would be a bunch of kids in the house and one of the easiest ways to entertain eight-year-olds is to feed them.  She ordered a pizza online at 4:10 and specified that it should be delivered at 5:30 when the party started.  At 6:00, when the pizza still hadn’t arrived, I called the restaurant to find out what the delay was.  I was told that our dinner was on its way and should be there any time.  I expressed my frustration and indicated that I would like a refund so that I could get dinner from someplace else but was basically told “too bad, so sad.”

At 6:30, the pizza was still not there.  At this point, it was an hour late and I had 10 kids in the house that wanted to eat.  I called Pizza Hut again and they told me that it should be there soon.  I started to get angry with them and was told that on my next order I would get a free large pizza.  Great.  They gave me something that I know better than to use.  Just then the pizza arrived and I took it to the kids.

When you order a pizza, you expect a certain quality, especially from a place like Pizza Hut.  When we opened the pizza boxes, I felt even more angry than I was before it arrived.  I’m firmly convinced that the pizza was made at 4:10 when it was ordered, then allowed to sit for the next two and a half hours while we waited for it.  I complained to Pizza Hut’s corporate office and was eventually able to get my money back but it was a horrible experience.

With the kids fed, we were able to play games, break a pinata, play pinataball, (kinda like baseball but with a pinata)  open presents, and have cake.  Everybody had a lot of fun despite the pizza issue.  I’m happy that we were able to give Emma such a fun party.

Friday was also the day that my mom flew into town from Denver.  It was nice to have her stay with us as we don’t get too see her very often.  We had a lot of fun with her.  Everyone, especially Emma, was sad to see her leave as we dropped her off at the airport on Sunday.  Hopefully we can make it out to Denver to see her in June.  (The Mets are conveniently in town to play the Rockies in June.)

Saturday was a big day for Emma because she was baptized.  We were all very proud of her decision to do this.  It was a wonderful experience and I’m grateful that I was able to play such a large part in it.  She’s a good kid and has made a lot of good decisions that have led her to this point in her life.

After the baptism, Emma wanted to go to Famous Dave’s for ribs.  Again, another good decision.  You can’t tell me that she’s not my daughter.  We loaded up on food and had a great time doing so.  It was a great night that finished off a great day.

Well, I think that this post pretty much summed up our weekend.  There was a lot going on and I’m sure I missed something but I think you get the gist of things.  Once I finish the new features that I’m working on, I’ll get back to posting more regularly.
