It’s Framed

I was finally able to finish framing the basement over the weekend.  Friday night involved me framing a bathroom wall and installing the shower.  On Saturday, I was able to finish framing the bathroom/laundry room and, with the help of a friend, the family room.

So what’s next in my basement adventures?  Well, I need to get everything inspected but before that, I have to wire all of the outlets, lights, switches, etc.

A few years ago, I was fixing a Coke machine.  Actually, I had already fixed it but as I was removing my hand that was holding a metal multi-tool from the machine’s innards, I bumped a wire that apparently wasn’t fully connected and ended up getting a pretty good shock.  It wasn’t 911 bad but it was bad enough that I got knocked to the floor and my arm hurt for a week.  Ever since then, I’ve been a bit wary of electricity.

Wiring the basement will be an amazing accomplishment for me if I’m able to do it and a) not start a fire, or b) kill myself.  I’ll be sure to keep a phone handy but it’ll probably end up melting to my hip.  Wish me luck.
