Yesterday, we had a family reunion of sorts with my dad’s side of the family at my aunt Annette’s home. This is something that seems to be becoming a tradition of sorts. We’ve done it every year for the past… um… two years. So twice. It’s a lot of fun though. I get to see members of my dad’s family that I don’t see nearly often enough. We cook meat on the grill and eat salads and other side dishes to our hearts content. (I love to eat food that has been cooked over an open flame. It just tastes better for some reason.) Plus, my step-mother, Emmy, makes yummy brownies that I can’t get enough of. Unfortunately, there’s only enough for one per person so I have to “get enough”.
This year was especially fun because it was warm. The warm weather means that the cover comes off of the pool and we get to swim. The kids loved it. They loved it so much in fact that Hannah couldn’t stay out of the water, even when nobody else was in the pool. (She ended up being rescued a few times.) Alex loved it so much that he wouldn’t get out even to go to the bathroom. (It was nasty. Both times. 
amp; ) Emma just loved swimming.
Unfortunately Holly wasn’t able to attend because she had to work but we took Chelsea with us instead. Everybody missed Holly but they were happy that Chelsea was able to come with us.
Every time we get together, I learn something. I usually learn a bit more about my family members, especially what it was like growing up with my grandparents on the farm in Idaho. Last night though, I also learned some of the finer details of pool cleaning and how a pool filter works. I hope that I never have to learn that particular lesson again.
