Feral Employees

This morning as I was changing the page on my Dilbert calendar, I came to the realization of just how similar my life is to Dilbert’s with respect to my job. Don’t get me wrong, I like what I do and I’m good at it. I may be looking for a new place of employment but it’s not because I hate my job.

Anyways… As I was reading Dilbert, I couldn’t help but think of some of the employees that have come through Unisys as of late. I’m not going to call anybody out here but these comic strips pretty much explain it all.

There was a time when working at Unisys meant that you were one of the best tech support agents around. It was hard to get hired. Now it means that you can probably sort of say your name. Whether or not you can say the company’s name that you’re supporting is a whole different matter. (I got to hear a company name said wrong yesterday. I laughed myself stupid. =)) ) It’s sometimes funny, but because of the loose hiring standards, I end up hearing some of the silliest questions throughout the day from people who are getting paid to know the answers. It gets very frustrating.

I guess that since there’s another round of feral employees being brought in, I better make sure that all of my shots are current. I know that their’s probably aren’t.
