With all of the excitement this weekend, I nearly forgot about our horrible Friday evening. It’s been a while since the dogs were groomed. They were starting to shed a lot and they were visibly uncomfortable with all of their fur. At night, Savannah was sleeping in the bathroom in front of the vent on the cold linoleum while Oscar has his head under the bed by that vent. They were hot, ratty, and gross. They needed a shave.
On Friday, Holly took the dogs to get groomed. They told her that it would be three or four hours and that they’d call when they were ready to get picked up. A sufficient amount of time had passed and Holly wanted to go get them so she left without waiting for the call. When she got there, they told her that it would be another hour or so. She decided to take Alex and Hannah to McDonald’s then to the park while they waited. When they finally got the call that the dogs were done, they went to pick them up but noticed that something was awry; Oscar looked just like Savannah. Holly asked about it and they assured her that the dog with the black collar was in fact Oscar. Holly figured that they wouldn’t be dumb enough to mix up our dog with another and so she took both of them home.
When the dogs came running into the house, I was busy working on a huge homework assignment. I pet both dogs but didn’t really pay much attention to them. I did notice that both dogs looked more alike than usual and mentioned this fact to Holly. She agreed with me and said that she had mentioned it to the groomers but they assured her that we had our dogs.
Both dogs were acting a bit strange; they kept sniffing each other like they were strangers. I also noticed that Oscar’s fur felt very different and he didn’t come when I called him. I started to get the feeling that this wasn’t my dog. Then he barked. I whipped my head around and saw the dog’s face. The face, combined with the high pitched bark, told me that my dog was not in my house. I immediately called for Holly to tell her of my discovery. She told me that she had a feeling that he wasn’t Oscar before bringing him home but that the groomers assured her that he was. What could she do? I called them up and left a very angry voice mail. Then the waiting began.
About an hour later, the groomer called us back and said that they had a male cocker spaniel that hadn’t been picked up yet and wondered if it was ours. DUH! Holly went and exchanged the dogs. They didn’t apologize to her or anything. In fact, they made a joke about having the right dog this time before she left. Just for Pets lost my business with that. If they don’t even apologize for the confusion, and then have the nerve to place blame on Holly even after she questioned them about it, they don’t deserve my money. I’ll find somebody else to cut my dog’s hair.
After writing this, I’m thinking that some sort of restitution is in order on their part. Maybe I’ll stop by there on the way home today and see what they’ll give me. Or maybe I’ll just tell everyone to stop going to Just for Pets in Layton from now on. Wow… I’m mad.

I was so sad that they mixed up our dogs and I went home with an imposter dog. Poor Oscar.
He must have thought that we forgot about him. At least he is home now-safe and sound.
