Happy Fourth Of July
I love the Fourth of July. It’s the best holiday ever. Even better than Columbus Day. Why you ask? Because it’s the birthday of the greatest nation on the face of the planet. Probably even greater than nations on other planets. Take that rest of the world!
As many, if not most of you know, we recently moved from Kaysville where we had spent the last seven years. Today is a huge day in Kaysville. They have all sorts of festivities including an amazing parade that the entire city shows up to support and some great fireworks. (Not at the same time. Fireworks in the middle of the day aren’t very spectacular.) During our time there, we established some traditions and said traditions have not stopped with us moving to Syracuse.
Yesterday on my way into work at 2:45 am, I staked out our seats for the parade. I’m going to meet Holly and the kids there as soon as I get off of work. We’ll enjoy the celebration and gather the free candy that is thrown. It’ll be fun. I know this because it’s always fun.
Tonight we’re going to cook some meat over a fire and then watch fireworks. We’re trying something different with fireworks this year. We’re going to see Layton City’s display. We went to these when Emma was a baby and it was a bad experience but we have some friends that go and they say that they know of really good places to sit. We’ll give it a chance and hopefully have a lot of fun. I’m sure that the kids will enjoy themselves.
Happy Birthday America! You’re not perfect but you’re better than every other place.
