Last night Holly and I had the wonderful opportunity of going to see Joe Diffie in concert in South Ogden. This is the fourth time that we’ve seen him and we know that he does a great show. I could hardly wait.
We got there a bit later than we would have liked. It was general admission seating so we had to find a good spot. Holly found a spot on the lawn on the far side of the seating area. We set out our blanket and really enjoyed the concert. I got up to try and take some pictures with my phone and found a place just to the left of the stage that we ended up moving to. From this vantage point, the concert was really good. We could see what was taking place on stage very well.
One of the most humorous parts of the show was when Joe Diffie indicated that he had to go the bathroom. Then he mentioned it again. And again. Finally, he left his son Parker in charge and left the stage for his trailer. I can imagine how that conversation must have gone.
Joe: Boy, if I’m ever up on stage, and I gotta pee, I’ll leave you in charge. Don’t break nothing.
Parker: Ok Dad. Can I sing a song?
Joe: Ok but if the audience gets mad and riots, I’m taking it out of your allowance.
I admit it. I like Parker Diffie. If he ever starts recording his own albums, I’ll buy them. He took a lot more active part in the show last year when we saw him. Last night he was relegated to backup singer for most of the night.
When Joe went to his trailer, we could see him. (Not going to the bathroom. Just walking to and from the stage.) I told Holly that I should run backstage and get his autograph. Too bad I didn’t have anything to get signed. After the show, same thing. He was just chillin’ backstage. I could have just went up to him. Some fans did. I decided last night that I will get his autograph. That means that I have at least one more of his concerts in me. It’ll be a fun challenge. (You may think I’m nuts but I have a personalized autograph of Garth Brooks hanging on my wall. It is possible.)
All in all the show was great. It may have been one of his best. Joe Diffie has one of the best voices in all of music, not just country. If you’re not familiar with his stuff, I’d highly recommend that you pick some up. Twice Upon A Time is my favorite CD of all time. Go buy it.

Jer, you totally should’ve rushed Joe Diffie after the concert and had him sign your forehead. Or your belly, whatever would’ve been most comfortable for you.
