This past weekend was the first weekend in which I feel like I got more accomplished than I had planned. Due to our busy schedules, it seems as though Saturdays are always spent grocery shopping, running various errands, etc. This weekend was different though. We planned on getting a few things done, like getting the car registered, and actually did it.
We took our Colt to get inspected and registered and unfortunately it failed the safety inspection. A few months ago the weld holding the drivers seat securely to the floor broke so it’s like driving while sitting in a rocking chair. That was the only problem with it though. Holly took it upon herself to get the seat fixed and managed to find a welder that would do it that day. It’s like a new car! Except for the fact that it’s old and not very fun to drive…
I took the car back today to let the county know that it was fixed and to get our stickers. The man inspecting it made a comment about how one of the side headlights had fallen out and was just dangling by the wires. (I got hit by some road debris this morning and it knocked it out.) I had to get some automotive tape which seems very much like twice-the-price duct tape to hold the light back in but the car is now registered; and with 4 days left in the month too.
Now, back to Saturday… After we found out that the car failed the inspection, we went to a yard sale in an upscale neighborhood in west Kaysville. I hate yard sales because I have no need to purchase somebody else’s garbage but we stopped anyway. I stayed in the car. Holly came back a few minutes later and said that they had a printer/scanner thing and asked me to go take a look at it.? I went and discovered a HP PSC 950 printer/scanner/fax/copier in really good condition. I proceeded to buy it for $10. It was a really good deal especially since it actually works. Too bad we don’t have a land line to use the fax machine with.
Saturday night we got a trash can lid full of meat from Famous Dave’s and watched The Prestige with some friends. I figured that since I won’t be able to eat anything that is not a popsicle for the next 7 – 42 days that I’d load up on some good bar-b-que. Hopefully It won’t be the full 42 days before I can enjoy a good rib again.
