A New Look

I’ve been wanting more interactivity with the website. I’ve decided to use WordPress so now you can post responses to our various blog entries. You can also click on one of the RSS links on the left to add this blog to your favorite RSS readers. That way, you’ll know when we update without having to check the site daily.

I’ve sacrificed a few things, most notably the gallery, for now but I hope to have it back up soon. Plus, I can edit this from anywhere so hopefully I’ll be able to find the time to post more frequently.

Ghost Rider Review

Ghost Rider starring Nicolas Cage opens nationwide today.? Last night, Holly and I had the opportunity to attend the premier at the Gateway Cinemas.? I thought that I would take a moment and share my thoughts on the movie.? There’s one problem though, we couldn’t get in.? I knew that studios always like a packed house at a premiere so they give out more passes than there are seats.? We arrived at the theater at 4:25 for the show which started at 7:00.? I figured that we had plenty of time and it wouldn’t be a problem to get seats.? Unfortunately though they started giving out tickets at 4:00 and they were gone by 4:15.? I was displeased to say the least.

The night wasn’t a total waste though.? Holly and I decided to go to the Ogden temple for a session.? They were extremely busy but we enjoyed ourselves.? It turned out to be a nice night.

Bike Riding

We went bike riding this weekend. We have these bike trails that are paved and go behind our neighborhood. We loaded up the kids in the bike trailer and we all rode our bikes past the horses and cows to the new Jensen Park two miles away. We let the kids run around a bit and throw rocks onto the frozen pond. When we were ready to go, I realized the bike trailer had a flat tire. So I stayed at the park with Hannah and Alex while Jeremiah and Emma rode home to go get the van to pick us up. It worked out well and we went to Wal-Mart and picked up some slime which seals up the tube instantly and now it is all fixed. We also picked up some that has some compressed air in it so it can pump up the tire as well as seal the tire on the go if that ever happens again. I am looking forward to going out again as a family.

I Fought the Law

…and I won.

A couple of months ago I got a speeding ticket. I was doing 49 in a 40. I contested the ticket by telling the officer that stopped me that I believed that the speed limit was 45 MPH. I was serious. I wasn’t just trying to get out of the ticket. She informed me that the speed limit changed to 40 MPH about a block before she clocked me then wrote me a ticket and gave me an order to appear in traffic court.

I was convinced that the speed limit was 45 MPH where I was stopped so later that day I went back looking for the sign indicating the change. I found it… behind a big pine tree. It was nearly impossible to see so I took some photos showing that the sign couldn’t be seen and prepared for my day in court.

It’s a Jungle in Here…

Well, sort of but not really… With all of the pollution that’s been in the air lately due to the inversion, Holly has been researching different ways that we can keep the air in our home cleaner. She decided that plants were the best way so we went out yesterday and bought some plants. We first went to Home Depot to see what they had. We ended up getting a couple but Holly really wanted a hanging plant and I didn’t see anything that I liked.

Last night we were doing some grocery shopping at the new WalMart by our house and decided to go check out the garden center. They had a really large selection of plants, including some nice hanging ones. We ended up getting one of them and then, after the groceries were put away, started the process of transplanting all of our new foliage into the new pots.

Update on the Kids

Hannah is the sweetest. She says thank you when you give her something or when you tuck her in to bed. She loves her dolls and pink bunny. She goes to sleep listening to the music played by her frog, Baby Tad. She loves to eat. She is starting to say a lot of words and loves Elmo. She can spot Elmo when she sees him and she says, “Elmo! Elmo!” She loves to have her hair done and will go get me a hairbrush and have me brush it until I tell her she is all done.
